SHS Staff

Suburban Hockey School can attribute its 30 years of success to the quality of its highly skills instructional staff. Frankly, its what sets us apart from other programs.

We have always placed a priority on selecting coaches who are experienced teachers of the game and have the skills to effectively communicate with players of all age and ability levels. The following is a list of some members of our instructional staff:

Tom Anastos - Director
Tom played his college hockey at Michigan State from 1981-85 for legendary MSU coach Ron Mason. During that time, the Spartans won four consecutive CCHA playoff championships and appeared in the NCAA Tournament four-straight times. Anastos was a second-team All-CCHA selection in 1985 and played professionally with the Montreal Canadiens organization. Tom went on to be the head coach at the University of Michigan-Dearborn from 1987-90, before he returned to Michigan State as an assistant coach. Anastos has been either a student or staff member at Suburban Hockey Schools since its inception in 1974. He is an active member of USA Hockey's Board of Directors and also serves on that organization's International and Junior Councils. Currently, Anastos is also the commissioner of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
